  • Solid HD image quality. Good SD-upconversion quality. Well-designed remote. Excellent Sharp Aquos HDTV integration.
  • Expensive. Limited features. Slow load times. No front-accessible USB port. Lacks integrated Wi-Fi.
  • The Sharp BD-HP52U Blu-ray player delivers an excellent Blu-ray picture and does a good job of upconverting standard-definition DVDs, but it lacks some of the features that you get with less-expensive players....

  • Excellent audio/video performance, Netflix is coming soon (March 5), AQUOS Link Support, No-nonsense remote
  • High list price, No internal storage, RSS feed is a waste of time, Slow boot and disc-loading times
  • Hey Sharp, 2006 called and it wants its Blu-ray player back! Seriously though, we expect a lot from the name Sharp. The BD-HP52U will be the first player in the manufacturer's lineup to stream Netflix, and it's one of their first to support BD-Liv...

  • The BDHP52U supports 1080p/24 playback of Bluray discs, The player has internal Dolby TrueHD and DTSHD Master Audio decoding and can pass these formats in bitstream form over HDMI, It supports BDLive Web content and can play pictureinpicture bonus content, A soontobereleased firmware update will enable Netflix videoondemand, An RS232 port is included, which is rare at this price point,
  • The BDHP52U lacks multichannel analog audio outputs, so it's not the best choice for someone who owns an older, nonHDMI A/V receiver, The player lacks internal memory, so you must add your own USB storage device, This player does not offer a wireless option for connection to your home network.
  • The BD-HP52U has the Blu-ray essentials we like to see, including BD-Live support, 1080p/24 video, and high-resolution audio decoding. The upcoming addition of Netflix video-on-demand will make this player more competitive with sub-$300 models from Sam...
