  • Record live TV – including Freeview, high-quality hardware encoder to digitise old videos, very powerful and versatile application
  • Slightly bigger than software-only encoders, limited editing tools Min specs: G4, 512MB RAM, USB 2.0, Mac OS X 10.4
  • The EyeTV 250 Plus is an excellent device if you need to digitise analogue footage. Version 3 of the EyeTV application is a fantastic and versatile piece of software that lets you enjoy TV in new ways. ...

  • Can digitise analogue sources, Includes Toast 8 Basic for burning DVDs, Receives both digital and analogue, Years subscription to tvtv.co.uk, Export to Apple TV, iPod and iPhone
  • Expensive
  • Despite competition from Equinux in recent years, Elgato remains the natural choice if you want to add a TV tuner to your Mac. Not only is the accompanying EyeTV software powerful, slick and flexible, but the company has a wide range of TV tuner soluti...

  • Extrait:  Elgatos original EyeTV 250 included an analogue TV receiver and the ability to record from composite and S-Video sources, such as an analogue camera or VHS player. While it included a hardware Mpeg-2 encoder to record analogue broadcasts, the lack of ...

  • Elgatos EyeTV 250 Plus is a solid but niche product. Owners of Intel-based Macs will find the cheaper EyeTV Hybrid USB stick more handy, particularly if they only have occasional analogue recordings to make - both products are identical for viewing d...

  • Extrait:  Extremely easy to set up, it receives both digital TV as well as analog TV. Analog TV shows look good, but your reception for either will depend on your location (which is, of course, not Elgato’s fault)—and you’ll have to prov...

  • Tunes over-the-air analog and digital channels. HDTV looks great onscreen. Automated export options. DVR records shows. Includes limited version of Toast 8 for basic DVD archiving. Includes IR remote.
  • Software interface sometimes confusing due to poor design. Powerful features take extra steps. Tunes only one channel at a time.
  • A few thoughtful features, like the ability to automatically reformat newly recorded videos for the iPod and export them, make up for many of the interface misses. The EyeTV 2 software is merely OK as a DVR, but the package’s strong hardware functio...
