During the initial setup, I noticed that the auto iris was very slow to respond to the average picture level on the screen, so I set it to Open. I generally prefer a non-dynamic iris in any event, and this setting helped maximize the peak white level....
Extrait: The HC5000 has forever changed my view of LCD projectors. The picture was rich in color and had high contrast with ample light output on our FireHawk screen. In addition, the 3-panel LCD inherently eliminated the annoyance I have with the color wheel o...
Extrait: It seems these days there are almost too many projectors. What?! Too many? Nah, but it makes the playing field very confusing for consumers. In each review I try to narrow in on the type of person who might be looking for the product being reviewed - a...

Iris settings are not good enough for dedicated darkened theater setups, and consequently blacks are not as deep as the best 1080p projectors.

Extrait: Someone’s been putting nitroglycerin in the Cheerios over at the Mitsubishi design department. It all started about a year ago with the release of the 720p Dark Chip DLP . In one brilliant stroke, Mitsubishi brought to market a projector that had all ...
Extrait: In the front projection world, 1080p has until now come with a steep price tag. Early high-end LCOS projection systems from JVC and Sony hovered around $30,000, as did Fujitsu’s HTPS LCD box. Single-chip 1080p DLP models are only now coming to marke...
