  • Extrait:  The iPod economy, as dubbed by Steve Jobs in a recent keynote, has been thriving ever since the incarnation of the original 1st generation model in 2001. There have been iPod wannabes and even iPod fakes, but nevertheless, nothing can stop the almighty...

  • Extrait:  The Altec Lansing iM5 is one of the budget models in their inMotion product line. The iM5 is just $20 less then its well-liked brother, the iM3. But does the lower price come with a sacrifice in features? The iM5 comes in a White and silver design, mat...

  • Extrait:  Besides the $130 inMotion iMmini, which works only with the now-discontinued iPod mini, the $150 inMotion iM5 is the least expensive of Altec Lansing?s iPod-dock portable speaker systems. And it has the potential to be an appealing ?lower-end? entry in...

  • Extrait:  As summer approaches the UK (no sign yet) all our thoughts turn to laying on the beech listening to MP3 tracks, What better then, than a new portable iPod speaker system to blast out tracks while you take in some waves?

  • Extrait:  The iM5 is far and away the most portable system that we tested, both in terms of weight (20 ounces) and portability, measuring about 60 percent of the length of the Logitech mm50, and half as wide as Sonic Impact’s entry. Press a button and the doc...

  • Compact and sturdy. Good input/output options. Nice-looking travel bag. Easy to use.
  • Bass distorts easily. No remote control.
  • The Altec Lansing InMotion IM5 is a portable, shock-resistant speaker package with some nice extras, but the bass can distort even at normal listening volume....

  • Shock resistant. Great case. Includes International plugs and 3.5 mm stereo cable.
  • Doesnt produce deep bass well. Volume extends beyond what speakers can handle. Unit should be placed within 3 feet of your ears.
  • If you’re one of the lucky many who received an iPod for the holidays, than it is now time to load up on accessories. While it’s easy to choose form the myriad of cases available, it is not so easy to choose a sound system. A iPod docking spea...

  • Extrait:  For anyone that’s been following the iPod speaker segment, Altec Lansing’s inMotion line has become synonymous with portable speakers. Shortly after the introduction of the rather large iM7 “boombox”, the iM5 was released. Despite...
