Exceptional build quality and audio output on a budget, stacks of bass, super comfortable
Over-prominent logo design, would like more mid-level pop
The level of build and audio quality the AKG Y50 deliver for their £80 asking price is astounding. Comprising metal, leather and glossy plastic in just the right amounts, it's the kind of construction many big-name competitors would charge twice as...
The AKG Y50 headphones are loud. Not just in their sound quality, but in their bright and bold appearance. Ours arrived with bright taxicab yellow ear cups with slick black highlights, and they look like they can easily go toetotoe with Dr Dre's Beats in
For £80, there's not a lot to dislike about the AKG Y50s. They sound brilliant, they look topnotch (even if the bright yellow isn't for everyone), and they won't break the bank either. Our only nitpick is that we wish the stainlesssteel headband had more
The bright yellow, taxi-cab styling might not be for everyone, but the top-notch sound quality definitely should be. Handily, you can grab the Y-50 headphones in black, red or teal if yellow's not your cup of tea, but no matter which colour you choose, fo...
Rhythmic, clear and detailed, Time well, Dynamic and punchy, Well-built, Portable
Sources might need to be turned up, Ears get warm after a while
Otherwise, the Y50s don't put a foot wrong as a pair of portable cans.Though the funky design had us thinking they might be style-over-substance Beat wannabes, it's just a smokescreen for what's another great-sounding pair of AKG headphones....
Not portable, Lacking in headband padding, Some sound leakage
The AKG Y50's boast a surprisingly clean sound for a moderate price. They come in a variety of color options to fit anyone's lifestyle, and provide a taste of the professional audio sound without having to pay the full studio price. If you can afford hig...
AKG, another Harman brand, has released its Y50 On-Ear Headphones ($100), designed with portable listening in mind. Powered by 40mm drivers, Y50 features low impedance and high sensitivity, making the headphones easily drivable by an iPhone with no extra ...

Powerful audio performance with intense, deep bass response and well-defined, crisp high-mids and highs. Inline remote control and microphone on a detachable cable.
Large logo on earcups not for everyone. Not for purists seeking flat response-style headphones
The AKG Y50 headphones bring some serious thunder for just $100 without compromising high frequency presence and clarity....
