  • Extrait:  When Sony introduced the first high definition video camera a couple of years ago, it was 1080i rather than 720p. Actually, the format of this and most such video cameras is called HDV, which means 1,440x1,080i. It requires recording 1,555,200 pixels p...

  • Extrait:  The camcorder has 2 XLR balanced inputs with five switches within easy reach, allowing you multiple choices of audio recording. Remove the attached mic and jack, and you get clear, separate stereo recording from left and right side of the camcorders b...

  • Extrait:  Its a robust high-definition camcorder with enough horsepower to do the job, yet compact enough to fit in your coat pocket. Its under 3lbs. with battery, XLR adapter, lens hood, and cassette. Its frugal enough on power to run for hours...

  • Small, light, and easy to operate. Great picture quality for a one-chip camera. Doubles as a terrific digital still camera. Balanced XLR mic inputs.
  • Still no true progressive scan in a prosumer camera. Focus ring without stops. Poor low-light performance. Highly compressed HDV format.
  • A wonderful companion to the Sony Z1, especially when shooting in tight spaces or when being unobtrusive is essential. Ill admit it, I was a little disappointed when DV asked me to review the small-profile Sony HVR-A1 camera. With all the "tweener" H...

  • Extrait:  Sony’s Second Offering In Its PRO HDV Lineup Is The HVR-A1U. This camcorder is squarely aimed at the budget HDV’er, and for the price is a surprising offering. I recently had the opportunity to work with the camera for a few weeks as my compan...

  • Excellent picture and audio recording quality, HDV portability.
  • Bottom-loading tape (when on a tripod), touchscreen menu.
  • The HVRA1P is yet another camera that greatly blurs (or arguably dispenses with) divisions of ?professional? and ?consumer?. At a price tag of $3,499 it?s not a cheap camcorder, but at the same time its not an inaccessible one and, as a pro featured HD...
