Sturdy but lightweight, terrific screen, slimmed down UI, fast processor, 8megapixel camera
Not such as bargain as the 7inch version, no Google Play app store, no expandable memory
The larger HDX's specs put it into competition with the likes of the Google Nexus 10 and Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. It may not have the versatility of either of those devices, or the iPad Air for that matter, but it costs less, looks great and is extreme...

The Kindle Fire HDX tablets don't compete fiercely enough in the price department, making them a tougher sell; other tablets can run circles around these Kindles for the same (or lower) price. Though the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 offers some truly laudable feat...
Fast, Gorgeous screen, Very easy to use, with live tech support
It's all very focused on Amazon, Less apps than a standard Android tablet, Poor cameras
The Kindle Fire is not a hard-core productivity tablet; it's designed mostly for consuming media from Amazon. While it's certainly possible to load it up with your own content and office apps, that isn't what its super-simple interface is made for. You m...

Tacksharp, vibrant screen. Superb battery life. Topnotch stereo speakers. An immersive headphone experience with Dolby Atmos. Great integration with Amazon services. Unlimited cloud storage for Amazon content makes the 16GB version doable. 24/7 video help
App ecosystem lags behind iOS and Android, and Google apps could fill in big gaps. The best deal is an 16GB version with lockscreen ads, but the an adfree 32GB HDX jumps up to 4. Doesn't look any different than the last one. Firefly doesn't always work
Great display, Decent sound quality, Grippy and light chassis, Fast WLAN, Good camera pictures
No storage expansion, Unreliable GPS module, Only 12 months warranty, Temperatures a bit too high
In Review Amazon Fire HDX 8.9. Test model courtesy of Amazon Germany.Once again, the fourth generation of the Fire HX 8.9 is a good multimedia tablet and control center for the Amazon services, which are pretty comprehensive by now. It offers the combinat...
Sturdy construction, Bright, sharp screen, Excellent integration with Amazon's cloud and content services, Helpful Mayday 24/7 tech support, Rear-facing camera added
Lock-screen ads cost extra to remove, No MicroSD card slot, Amazon Appstore remains a fraction of the size of Google Play, Power and volume-button location
This latest-gen Fire strikes a satisfying balance between display size and weight. Family-friendly features and tight integration with Amazon's store make it a good pick for Amazon-hopping families. Read More…...
Super-sharp screen, 4G support, Slim and very light

As a media and all-round entertainment machine, the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 is a solid rival for the iPad Air 2. However, there is a caveat, and that's the tablet's deep roots in Amazon's ecosystem. Prime members will delight in the Instant Video integ...
Extrait: Amazon has made tablet buying incredibly easy. It's no longer necessary to give up an entire paycheck for an overpriced iPad just to have good performance and screen quality. Amazon's Fire HDX lineup isn't just a cheaper alternative, it's a superior produ...
Bestlooking tablet screen on the market, Slim, lightweight design, Good performance, Long battery life, Highquality Camera
No microSD memory card slot, Heavy Amazon advertising
Thanks to its outstanding hardware, the 2014 version of the Fire HDX 8.9 is one of the very best mid-size tablets on the market. The strong ties to Amazon's webstores might turn away some potential customers, though....
