  • Extrait:  With Microsoft's new Windows 7 operating system (OS), available in Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate flavors, most of the improvements over previous iterations are under the hood. But while boasting increased performance, stability and better mem...

  • From the benchmarker’s standpoint, the change from Windows Vista to Windows 7 is simply a matter of documentation. The one benchmark that showed a big difference was actually slower in Windows 7, likely due to a compatibility issue with one of the p...

  • Smaller disk and memory footprint. Faster installation, startup, shutdown. Stable. Less intrusive. Taskbar icons more flexible. New home networking capabilities, including media streaming. Working with external hardware is easier. Multitouch support. Nice...
  • Keeps the Registry and some other Windows baggage. Performance not a huge gain over Vista. A bit pricey for upgraders.
  • Microsoft's new OS is a big improvement over Windows Vista, and because it's based on the same underlying kernel code there should be fewer compatibility headaches for those who make the switch. Add to that a retooled taskbar, simpler home network...

  • Beautiful new UI, Speed improvements throughout, New Windows Media Center
  • Few major changes over Vista, Internet Explorer, Somewhat expensive

  • Strong design and Microsoft dont always go together, but they do in Windows 7. Users might take a while to get used to the new taskbar and Aero Peek, but theyre a pleasure to use.
  • Performance is still hit-or-miss in Windows 7. At the ripe age of seven, Windows XP still performs better in some categories.
  • Windows 7 is more than what Vista should have been, its where Microsoft needed to go. How much damage Vista did and whether Windows 7 is enough for people to finally abandon Windows XP are questions that nobody has the answers to right now.
