Extrait: Showing just how low-key its press conference was, one of the company's bigger announcements was that its existing wearable, the Smartwatch 3, is now available with a metal as opposed to a plastic strap, which was originally revealed at IFA in September ....
Extrait: The Sony SmartWatch 3 is the Japanese tech giant's third attempt at making a tech-infused timepiece, only this time its latest watch runs Google's Android Wear operating system, just like many other smartwatches out at the moment. Sony's given it a sporty...

GPS built-in, good battery life for standard use, microUSB charging, slim design
Design lacks premium quality, display not the brightest, Android Wear still has limitations
The Sony SmartWatch 3 manages to improve the feature set compared to its predecessor thanks to built-in GPS. But it still falls short in a some areas, making that smartwatch purchase decision less clear cut than the high-flying Sony specification ma...
The SmartWatch 3's biggest strength is its built-in GPS, but you'll still need a smartphone for driving directions. It's also great to see a standard USB charging port. The transflective screen is a good idea, but in practice battery life is no better tha...

The Sony SmartWatch 3 has built-in GPS to track your workout without needing your phone. It's waterproof, has a built-in USB port for charging without a dock and runs Android Wear smoothly
Its screen is pretty awful, with poor colours and viewing angles. Its plain, square design makes it much less stylish than the LG G Watch R and it doesn't have a heart-rate monitor built in
Although its ability to use GPS to track your run is handy, its poor screen, uninspiring design and lack of a heart-rate monitor means the SmartWatch 3 doesn't impress over its more luxurious Android Wear competitors....
Android Wear is becoming the de rigeur thing to have for any respectable smartphone manufacturer (well, apart from Nokia and Apple, obviously) but I never thought Sony would join the party, given its spent so long developing its own system. Well, with the...
Packed with features, It's a steal at the price, Slick performance
Washed out screen, Pretty awful looks, Short-ish battery life
This is not a sexy item like the Apple Watch, but it is exceptional value, especially if you're a runner who prefers to hit the streets without a phone. Android Wear is an effective wearable OS and this showcases it very well. For the price you pay, and th...
