We didn't think it was possible for Onkyo to improve on the superb TX-SR608 but incredibly it has. Everything we loved about last year's model can be found on the TX-NR609 but mixed in with a bunch of new features that feel like so much more than mere gim...
Extrait: More-or-less maintaining the chunky black look of last year's range (though silver models are available too) the Onkyo TX-NR609 is a satisfyingly sturdy affair. Source and Mode controls are placed along a thin groove within the flat face of the recei...
The Audyssey 2EQ auto setup works its magic with the supplied mic and test tones, or you can take the DIY option by delving into the onscreen set-up menu, which uses the same logical layout as last year's models but with swanky new fonts and graphics. ...
Extrait: Lean but Solid While the TX-NR609 isn't especially beefy, it's no lightweight either, weighing in at just under 25 pounds. Inside are seven channels of amplification rated at 100 watts each and featuring three-stage inverted Darlington output circuitry wi...

There's no built-in AirPlay support, so the Onkyo TX-NR609 wouldn't be our top choice if you have an iOS device. It also doesn't sound quite as good as the Pioneer and Denon, especially using the automatic speaker calibration
The Onkyo TX-NR690 has six HDMI inputs and lots of built-in streaming music services, but it lacks AirPlay and doesn't sound quite as good to our ears as some competitors.
