Closefocusing 0.5x macro ability in the 200300mm zoom range, Impressive build quality at the price, Sharp at all but the longest telephoto setting,
No optical stabilisation, Lacks Sigma's HSM autofocus, and the basic motor is quite noisy, Poor image contrast in dull lighting
More than a one-trick pony, the Sigma doubles up as a 0.5x macro lens but, given its relatively poor resolution at the long end of the zoom range, it can't compete with a good macro prime lens. Overall, it's outclassed by Sigma's newer lens.
