Very sharp. Capable of extremely shallow depth of field. APD filter smooths background blur. Physical aperture control. Minimal distortion.
APD filter limits light gathering. Expensive. Omits optical stabilization. Can be slow to focus
The Fujifilm Fujinon XF 56mm f/1.2 R APD is a unique portrait lens that uses a special filter to smooth backgrounds, but it carries a hefty premium over the standard version of the lens....
tight, robust and sealed casing, excellent image quality in the frame centre, practically zero lateral chromatic aberration, proper control of the spherical aberration, zero distortion level, moderate astigmatism, fast, quiet and accurate autofocus
too weak image quality on the edge of the frame near the maximum relative aperture, too high level of longitudinal chromatic aberration, distinct vignetting, performance against bright light should have been better.
It is true that the Fujinon XF 56 mm f/1.2 R has many advantages – after all not every lens manages to break resolution records like it does. On the other hand the cons list consists of as many as four positions; taking into account the price of the 1.2/5...

Quite sharp, Capable of extremely shallow depth of field, Physical aperture control, Minimal distortion, Even illumination
Can be slow to focus, Omits optical image stabilization, Manual focus by wire, Not weather-resistant
The Fujifilm Fujinon XF 56mm F1.2 R has more light-gathering capability than any lens in the Fuji mirrorless system, and captures images with crisp details...
Unfortunately, prime lenses with fast maximum apertures and specialised optics aren't cheap to produce. The price of the new lens is between AU$500 and $650 more than its ancestor, the Fujinon XF 56mm f/1.2 R, which was itself a fairly expensive lens. Bot...
