Large image sensor. Wide aperture zoom lens. Sharp EVF. Top-notch high ISO performance. Speedy autofocus. 11.3fps burst shooting. Excellent control layout. 4K video capture with 4K photo mode. Integrated Wi-Fi. Hot shoe.
Expensive. Bulky. Overactive video autofocus. Sensor resolution limits detail. No built-in flash. Fixed LCD doesn't support touch input. Lacks microphone input
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX100 is an ambitious compact camera with a big sensor, a wide-aperture lens, and 4K video recording, but it falls just short of top honors....

With really good photo and video quality, a great set of features and generally class-leading performance, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX100 is probably one of our favorite compact cameras ever. It's not for the inexperienced, though....

Adopting a larger sensor than the lens can cover offers advantages in lens size and speed, but the trade-off is somewhat reduced sensor performance, particularly in respect to low-light capabilities. For all that, it's still no worse than rival offerings...
Extrait: These cameras may be a bit too big to fit in your pocket but most are compact enough to be considered appealing alternatives to heavier, bulkier, interchangeable lens camera systems...

Excellent stills image quality - especially in Raw, Unsurpassed combination of large sensor and bright lens, Impressive and usable video capabilities, Comprehensive and well-designed direct controls (with good customization options), Fast, responsive beha
JPEG noise reduction and sharpening are rather crude at low ISOs, Lens range can be limiting, 12MP may not be enough for some users, Manually positioning an AF point is awkward (and workaround limits customization choices), Focus peaking often too subtle
The LX100 is a very specific tool - a usefully small camera with an impressively bright lens and good sized sensor. Its short zoom and low pixel count will limit its appeal but dependable image quality and excellent hands-on controls make this one of the...
