The retro look and metallic touches are irresistible. The image quality is excellent, comparable with the fine E-620. Colours are over saturated in default mode, but that is easily corrected. This is, in effect, an SLR that fits in the pocket.
The E-P1 is slow! Auto focus, even after the 1.1 firmware upgrade, is sluggish and the shutter is not as responsive as an SLR.
We fell in love with the E-P1 the moment we took it from the box. So we bought one! We know that for years we have been advising readers not to buy cameras without proper viewfinders, and now look what we've done. Well, we were right – an LCD is...
Compact, awesome grainy film filter, easy to use, excellent low-light performance
No flash, no built-in optical viewfinder
If you don’t like the bulkiness of a digital SLR camera, but like the idea of changing lenses to suit your needs, then the Olympus Pen E-P1 has your name on it. It produces good images, it has useful art modes and it’s stylish. The only drawba...
The design. Have you ever seen such a cool looking camera? , SDHC compatibility , HD video , Aperture priority and art filters in video mode , Excellent range of additional accessories
The price of those additional accessories , Resistive control wheel , Loud autofocus on some lenses
Though it's rather expensive, we can't help adoring the E-P1. The pictures it takes with the included lenses are mostly great, just don't expect compact-like features such as a viewfinder and flash to be included....
Extrait: The Olympus Pen E-P1 is the third Micro Four Thirds (MFT) camera to reach the market and is quite different from the Panasonic G-series models that preceded it. Capitalising on the heritage of the popular Pen series cameras, which were launched 50 ye...
Extrait: Olympus Pen EP 1 ($1700 with 14-42 mm lens) is a concept the digital photography world has been waiting for. It looks like a compact point-and-shoot camera but inside its really almost a single-lens-reflex, with compact interchangeable lenses, a hot ...
Cool retro design, Micro four thirds format with interchangeable lenses
More expensive (and slower) than many DSLRs, No viewfinder, No built in flash

Refreshing retro and petite design; incorporates Art Filters in HD video mode; good picture and video quality; wide range of adapters for other lenses available.
No onboard flash; writing time can be faster; confusing menu interface.
Small; feels more expensive than it is; loads of features; extremely customisable interchangeable lens system.
Battery life could be longer; 720p video is only soendsso.
Sometimes, a camera comes along that gets you hooked not just because of its features, but because it’s just so gosh-darned attractive. The E-P1 is just such a camera — in terms of features, it’s about the same as the Olympus E-620 or E-...
