  • Nikon's 28mm F1.4E ED appears to roundly complete the company's updated lineup of fast, professional prime lenses. We've already seen some initial images from a Nikon ambassador, but we've worked through a gallery of our own, with a lens of our own over t...

  • The Canon PowerShot G3X is Canon's first big zoom, big sensor compact. Traditional super-zoom cameras have a lot to offer but, their typically small sensor size prompts many buyers to migrate upwards to a DSLR or mirrorless. The G3X's 1inch sensor isn't a...

  • No built-in EVF; Mediocre AF speeds; Sluggish burst rate with RAW/RAW+JPG and with servo AF; Below average battery life; No 4K video unlike competitors,

  • Low imagenoise, Impressive retention of details until ISO 800, Good dynamicrange, Nicely saturated colors, Reliable and consistent metering, Instant shutterlag with very short blackout, Mostly sturdy and weatherproof body, Builtin 3stop ND filter, Canon P
  • Strong edge softness, Yellowish cast under artificial light, Slow AF near telephoto, Slow to exit Playback, No continuous drive RAW buffer, Many controls hard to press, impossible with gloves, Poor LCD visibility in bright light, LCD hinges wiggle
  • The Canon Powershot G3 X combines a 20 megapixels 1" CMOS sensor and a 25X optical zoom into a body the size of a typical prosumer ultra-zoom. While no small feat, Canon built the G3 X with a fully weather-sealed body, equipped it with dual control-dials...

  • Outstanding image quality in all shooting conditions, 25x optical zoom lens, Lens moves fast throughout zoom range, Above average shutter lag and burst performance in JPEG versus other large zoom cameras, Highquality, large LCD screen that's a touch scree
  • Expensive starting price, No builtin viewfinder, Problems with camera shake when using maximum telephoto setting and hand holding G3 X, Slow burst mode performance in RAW, Bulky camera that weighs more than 1.5 pounds, On the model I tested, interior comp
  • Aimed at advanced amateurs looking for a second camera or a point-and-shoot alternative to an entry-level DSLR or Micro Four Thirds ILC, Canon has announced the G3 X for 2015. It sits next to the G1 X Mark II as this series' co-flagship model, and slightl...

  • We concluded our reviews of the PowerShot G1X Mark II and G7X by stating The lack of a built-in viewfinder is always a deal-breaker for us and we're still of that opinion. Particularly in the Southern Hemisphere, where skies are often clear, a viewfinder...

  • Image quality, especially in RAW, is good. Obviously the best pictures are taken when the zoom is set in its middle range, but with care the quality at 600mm is better than acceptable. If anything there is a slight over-sharpening which results in moire interference in fine detail such as bird feathers
  • The absence of an eye level viewfinder at this price is puzzling. It is not possible to hold a camera at arm’s length and keep it steady with a lens zoomed to 600mm. The theoretically optional EVF is, in fact, essential. The LCD does not perform well in bright sunlight, making it difficult to check framing, focus and exposure
  • This camera is too big too big to be a compact that fits a pocket or bag. It is too expensive for the casual user. It is under-featured for a serious amateur. It has one selling feature, the incredibly long zoom, but the image quality at 600mm is not good...

  • 24600mm equivalent zoom range, 1inch type sensor, 5axis image stabilization
  • Quite large for a compact with a 1inch sensor, Tilting rather than variangle screen, No viewfinder built in
  • A promising camera that has a good sensor, of decent size, with an as yet unknown but promising lens which offers a very versatile zoom range...
