Excellent new autofocus system, Superb image quality, Handy Wi-Fi and touchscreen
Bigger than a mirrorless cam, Expensive
VERDICT The 70D is Canon's best DSLR for ages. While its recent entry-level models have been near flawless in their own right, they've not really offered anything that might make compact system camera users sit up and take notice. But the 70D does exactly...
Swift and accurate auto focus for both stills and video, semi pro feel built-to-last build, superb image quality that packs a punch even with 18-55mm kit zoom, angle adjustable LCD with touch screen
Chunkier and heavier than most consumer-level DSLRs, top plate LCD shortcuts could be made less fiddly and easier to access still
Fast, sharp and well built, if you can afford the outlay the 70D should last you a good few years of service
Excellent enthusiast DSLR, Dual Pixel AF for movies a major improvement, High-quality stills, great videos
No AF Assist lamp on body, Wi-Fi implementation needs help, Bulky, but that comes with the territory
The Canon EOS 70D is a first-rate 20.2MP DSLR and gives one of our favorites, the Nikon D7100, a very good run for the money. We really like the operability and still quality of both. However, the Canon really trumps Nikon on the video front. Canon's ne...
Swift and accurate auto focus, semi professional body construction with chunky handgrip and top plate LCD, angle adjustable rear screen with touch panel operation, built-in Wi-Fi connectivity
Heavier than most consumer DSLRs, particularly with kit zoom attached, expensive for an APS-C DSLR, awkward to tweak settings using small top plate buttons encircling the smallest LCD
In a nutshell the 70D looks, feels and almost performs as well as a pro DSLR. And yet, if we were able to pay this much for a DSLR we'd also have our eye on the full frame 6D, released last September, for just a little more
It seems that there used to be a wealth of high-end enthusiast DSLRs to choose from, but with a longer wait between updates it appears that choice is gradually being reduced. Whether or not the EOS 70D should be your next Canon DSLR depends on your existi...
Smooth, responsive autofocus in Live View and video modes, Excellent build quality, Userfriendly design and controls, Very responsive when working in good light conditions, Good screen with touchcontrols and swivel functionality, Colour noise is controlle
No second SD card slot, Weatherproofing isn't as advanced as with some competitors' models, Still a few design/handling flaws, Heavyweight video bitrate—SD card with at least class 10 speeds required
The EOS 70D is a great update of Canon's enthusiast-level consumer DSLR. It's a user-friendly and pleasant-to-use camera that sets a new standard for DSLR autofocus thanks to its innovative Dual Pixel AF technology. Video buffs and fans of Live View will ...

Picture quality, picture quality, picture quality. Oh, and the picture quality is amazing too.
The creative filters could be better but we're really reaching for something bad to say here
This is a terrific mid-level DSLR camera. It has a solid, usable design, a lifetime of guides and features to explore and captures wonderful colour photographs at even low light levels. Buy it....
